Why start from a photo instead of a prompt
Text prompts are great for ideas, but every generation invents a new person, product or place. When the look has to be exact, image to video is the better choice. The model treats your photo as frame one, so the result matches your brand colors, your character design or the real object you are selling.
It also takes the guesswork out of composition. You decide the framing, the lighting and the aspect ratio when you choose or crop the photo, and the AI only has to decide how things move. That is why many creators design a first frame in the AI Image Generator, fix details in the AI Image Editor, and then animate it here.

Image to video is also the better choice for anything that has to look like a real object: a shoe you sell, a car, a building, a book cover. A text prompt would give you a similar but different item every time. With a photo, the product in the video is your product.
Motion prompts that work well
Describe change, not content. The model already sees what is in your photo, so spend your words on movement.
- Camera moves: "slow cinematic push-in", "the camera orbits slowly around the subject", "gentle handheld drift", "pull back to reveal the room".
- Subject motion: "she turns and smiles at the camera", "the dog wags its tail", "steam rises from the cup".
- Environment: "waves crash and clouds drift by", "leaves fall", "neon signs flicker", "snow starts to fall".
Keep it to one or two movements per clip. Asking for a big action, like a person walking out of frame and coming back, often looks less natural in 5 or 10 seconds. Clear photos with a visible subject and some background around it animate best; tight crops, tiny faces and heavy filters give the model less to work with.
For product shots, a plain or softly blurred background helps the model keep the product shape stable. If the background is busy, remove it with the free Background Remover and place the product on a clean backdrop before animating.
Price and output
Photo to video costs $0.50 for a 5 second clip and $1.00 for 10 seconds, paid per use from your credit balance. There is no subscription. If a generation fails, the cost goes back to your balance automatically.
Because each run costs money, it pays to test cheaply: try your motion idea as a 5 second clip first, and only generate the 10 second version once the movement looks right. Longer clips give slow camera moves more room, but they also give the model more time to drift away from your photo, so short clips often keep faces and products more faithful.

How does image to video AI work?
You upload a photo and describe the motion. The model uses your photo as the first frame and predicts the next frames based on your prompt, then returns a 5 or 10 second video clip.
Is this photo to video AI free?
No, it is pay per use: $0.50 for 5 seconds or $1.00 for 10 seconds. There is no subscription, and a failed generation is refunded automatically.
Will my photo stay the same in the video?
The first frame matches your photo closely. As the clip plays, the model adds movement, so faces and small details can change a little, especially in 10 second clips or with fast motion. Slower, simpler motion keeps the most likeness.
What aspect ratio will the video be?
It follows your photo. A vertical photo gives a vertical video and a landscape photo gives a landscape video. Use Crop Image first if you need exactly 9:16, 16:9 or 1:1.
Which image formats can I upload?
JPG, PNG or WebP up to 10 MB. iPhone HEIC photos can be converted with the free HEIC converter.
Can I animate a picture of a person?
Yes, if you have their permission. Never use someone's likeness to deceive, harass, impersonate or sexualize them.
Can the person in the photo talk?
This tool adds motion, not speech. To make a portrait say a script with lip sync, use AI Talking Photo.
How is this different from the AI Video Generator?
The AI Video Generator has both text and image modes on one page and the same prices. This page is focused on animating photos, so it asks only for the image, the motion and the length.
Is there a watermark?
No. RegiAI does not watermark AI results.
Can I use the video commercially?

How long does it take to animate a photo?

Why did parts of my photo warp or morph?
This usually happens with fast or complicated motion, hands, small faces in a wide shot, or text in the image. Ask for slower, simpler motion, use a sharper and larger photo, and try a 5 second clip first.
Can I make a longer video from one photo?
Each generation is 5 or 10 seconds. Add about 6 more seconds that continue the action with the AI Video Extender, or animate several photos and join them in an editor.
