Rotate Image

Rotate images by 90° increments with a single click. Fix sideways and upside-down photos right in your browser.

Image

Rotation is lossless and runs in your browser. Your image never leaves your device.

Your image opens here

Upload a photo, then rotate it left, right or 180° and download the result.

Rotate image files in a couple of clicks: upload a photo, turn it 90 degrees left, 90 degrees right or 180 degrees, and download it the right way up. The preview updates with every click and shows the current angle, so you can see the result before saving. Everything happens in your browser, with no upload, sign up or watermark.

It is the quick fix for phone photos that come out sideways, scans that are upside down and screenshots you need in portrait instead of landscape. When the photo is straight, you can crop away the edges, resize it for the web, or turn iPhone HEIC files into JPG with the HEIC converter.

How to use Rotate Image

  1. 1

    Upload an image

Click Upload Image to Rotate and choose a photo. It opens in the preview at its current orientation.

  2. 2

    Rotate until it looks right

Use Left 90°, Right 90° or 180°. The current angle is shown above the buttons, and Reset Rotation goes back to 0°.

  3. 3

    Download the rotated image

Press Download Rotated Image. The file name includes the angle, and the original on your device is not changed.

Why photos end up sideways

Phones do not always rotate the actual pixels when you hold them sideways. Instead, they save the picture as the sensor captured it and add an orientation tag (EXIF) that tells apps how to display it. Your phone reads the tag, so the photo looks fine there. But some websites, email clients, older Windows apps and printers ignore the tag and show the raw image, which is why the same photo can appear sideways or upside down.

Rotating the image here solves that for good. The tool draws the picture the way your browser displays it, turns it by the angle you choose and saves a new file. The new file does not depend on an orientation tag, so it displays the same way everywhere.

Tip: look at the preview, not at how the file icon looks on your desktop. The preview shows the photo the way your browser displays it, and that is the starting point for every rotation.

This is also why a photo can look correct in your phone gallery and on your computer, yet arrive sideways on a website or in a printed document. Different software reads the orientation tag differently. A rotated copy saved here removes the guesswork for whoever opens it next.

How to rotate an image 90 or 180 degrees

The rotate tool works in quarter turns, which covers almost every orientation problem:

  • Right 90° turns the image clockwise. Use it when the top of the photo is on the left.
  • Left 90° turns it counterclockwise. Use it when the top is on the right.
  • 180° turns an upside-down photo the right way up.

You can click the buttons as many times as you like. The angle display keeps track (0°, 90°, 180° or 270°), and Reset Rotation returns to the original. Nothing is saved until you press Download Rotated Image. The file is saved as a PNG, with the angle in the name, for example photo_rotated_90deg.

The tool does not straighten by small angles such as 3 degrees, and it does not mirror (flip) images. It rotates one image at a time; press New Image to load the next.

A quick way to decide: look at the preview and ask where the top of the picture is now. If the sky or the top of a page points left, rotate right. If it points right, rotate left. If it points down, use 180°.

What to do after rotating

Rotating is often the first step. Once the photo is the right way up:

For old or damaged scans, the AI Photo Restoration tool can repair scratches and fading once the scan is the right way up.

Everything runs in your browser: the image is drawn onto a canvas, turned and saved from there. Nothing is uploaded to RegiAI and your original file is not changed, so you can try as many rotations as you like.

If you rotate photos often because a particular camera or scanner saves them sideways, check its settings for an auto-rotate option. For phone photos, the rotate tool is usually the fastest fix when a website or printer shows them the wrong way.

Scanned documents are a common case: a multi-page scan often has one or two pages the wrong way round. Rotate those pages here, then put them back with the rest before you send or print the set.

Still stuck? Contact us.

How do I rotate an image?

Upload the photo, click Left 90°, Right 90° or 180° until it looks right, then press Download Rotated Image.

Is this rotate image tool free?

Yes. It is free with no sign up and no watermark.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The rotation runs in your browser, so your photo stays on your device.

Which angles can I rotate by?

Quarter turns: 90° left, 90° right and 180°. Clicking several times gives you 0°, 90°, 180° or 270° in total.

Can I rotate by a custom angle, like 5 degrees?

No. The tool rotates in 90° steps only, which is what sideways and upside-down photos need.

Can I flip or mirror an image?

No. This tool rotates only; it does not mirror images horizontally or vertically.

What format is the rotated image?

It downloads as a PNG file with the angle in the name. Convert it with PNG to JPG if you need a JPG.

Why does my photo look sideways on some sites but not on my phone?

Phones often store an orientation tag instead of rotating the pixels, and some sites ignore it. Saving a rotated copy here builds the orientation into the image itself.

Can I rotate several images at once?

No. Rotate and download one image, then press New Image to load the next.

Can I undo a rotation?

Yes. Keep rotating, or press Reset Rotation to go back to 0°. Nothing is saved until you download.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. The tool works in mobile browsers on iPhone and Android.

Can I rotate a HEIC photo from my iPhone?

Some browsers cannot open HEIC. Convert it first with the HEIC to JPG converter, then rotate the JPG.

Is rotating the same as flipping?

No. Rotating turns the whole picture around its center. Flipping mirrors it, like a reflection. This tool only rotates.

Why is my rotated image a PNG?

The tool saves the rotated image as PNG data so no JPG compression is added. Use Compress Image or PNG to JPG if you need a smaller file.
