Selfie tips for a better likeness
- Face the camera. A straight-on selfie keeps your features clearest in every style.
- Soft, even light. Window light beats a harsh overhead lamp or a dark room.
- No sunglasses or masks. The model needs to see your eyes and mouth to keep the likeness.
- Crop close. If the selfie shows a lot of room behind you, crop it with the free crop tool so the face fills more of the frame.
- iPhone photo? HEIC files are not accepted; convert them with the free HEIC converter.
The output keeps the aspect ratio of your photo, so crop your selfie square first if you need a square avatar. Most profile pictures are shown in a circle, so leave a little space around your head when you crop.
