Quick access to the most commonly used image format conversions
This image converter changes photos and graphics between JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF and BMP. Add up to 10 images, pick the output format and press Convert; each file gets its own download button. It is free, with no sign up, no watermark and no daily limit, and it works in any modern browser on a computer or phone.
Use it as a JPG converter when a site rejects WebP or PNG, as a WebP or AVIF converter to make images lighter for the web, or as a PNG converter when you need a lossless copy. For iPhone photos in HEIC format, use the HEIC to JPG converter. If the converted file is still too large, shrink it with Compress Image or Resize Image.
Drop up to 10 images on the box or click Add Files. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF and BMP files are accepted.
Leave Convert on Auto Detect and pick the target in the To menu: PNG, JPG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF, GIF or BMP.
Press Convert. Each converted file shows its new size and its own Download button.

JPG, PNG and WebP are created in your browser without uploading.
Each format is good at something different:
When you convert a transparent image to JPG or BMP, the transparent areas are filled with white, because those formats cannot store transparency. To keep transparency, choose PNG, WebP or AVIF.
A simple rule of thumb: photos go to JPG or WebP, graphics with text or sharp edges go to PNG or WebP, and anything that needs transparency goes to PNG, WebP or AVIF.
JPG, PNG and WebP are created directly in your browser with the canvas API, so those files are not uploaded. Browsers cannot create every format, though. When your browser cannot produce the format you picked, which is typical for AVIF, GIF and BMP, the image is sent to RegiAI to be encoded and the finished file is sent straight back to your browser. That server step accepts files up to 20 MB and is not saved to an account.
A few other details:
Because JPG, PNG and WebP conversions happen on your device, they are quick even for a full batch of 10 images. Server-encoded formats take a moment longer, since each file is sent and returned one at a time.
If you always convert the same pair, a dedicated page has the right formats selected for you:
Once your image is in the right format, you can crop it, remove its background with the Background Remover, or add your name with the Watermark Maker.
Tip for websites: convert large JPG and PNG images to WebP for everyday use, and try AVIF when you want the smallest possible file and your platform supports it. Keep the original JPG or PNG as a master copy in case you need to edit or convert it again later.
Tip for documents: Word, PowerPoint and many older programs do not accept AVIF, and some do not accept WebP. Convert those images to PNG (for screenshots and graphics) or JPG (for photos) before you insert them.
